EBC, here I come!

Good news today!
I just got an email informing me that I have been accepted at my first and only choice of Bible College for next year, Emmanuel Bible College. Yes, if I had not been accepted I would have been in quite a jam, having no other plans for next year!
Now, it wasn’t a very demanding application, so I expected to be accepted (a rhyme!), but it’s still nice to be sure!
I applied for the Diploma in Biblical Studies program, which lasts 2 years.

I’m excited!

AAAAAHH!! Congratulations! That is so exciting! :D

That’s how I was with Northwest. There was no other choice. God wants me to be here.

    Way to go, Trevor! :)

How big is the school? I noticed tuition isn’t too bad… better than $25,000 a year. :P

I’ve heard that American Colleges are very expensive, but you can usually get pretty good funding, right? Did you get scholarships or anything?

Wow, and I thought my school was small. Actually, that’s normal size for a Bible college. I have a friend that’s going to Bible college in Portland and it sounds about the same.

Well, it’s not really that American colleges are expensive, but the private schools are. Sure, there’s a lot of funding out there. I started late with financial aid last year and received enough for half of the cost. I still had to take out a loan for the rest of it which isn’t the greatest, but hopefully I won’t have to do that next year.

What about you? Are you getting any scholarships of grants?

How’s that? I fix typos for free ;)
Canada doesn’t have nearly the scholarship oppurtunies that the States does, partly because our schools don’t go back as far, and so don’t have as many rich alumni to donate money!
My wonderful grandparents have set up a sort of educational savings account for me, which should cover a significant portion of my tuition. When I go on from Bible School to University, I’ll probably be working Co-op, which means I should earn enough money to break even. I really don’t want to be stuck with thousands of dollars of debt hanging over my head.

Haha, that’s great except that you forgot to change “of” to “or”. ;)

I never thought about that. Except now the US doesn’t give federal aid to ministry majors as of last year. I feel bad for anyone who wants to be a pastor, music leader, or missionary. Unless they find private scholarships or grants, they have to foot the bill themselves. :/

That’s a good way to go. I’ll be praying God blesses your finances.

  12. haha, $10 000CDN is about the max you’ll pay per year for most undergraduate degrees, $6000 is more typical. Hope I get my application done soon :)

Hey, yeah, I did switch hosts. I got it on ebay, and it’s $9.95 a year, which is awesomely low and I’m happy with the service so far… unlike last time. Anyways, the host I have now is “1 GIG Hosting” - http://1gighosting.com/

    Hey Trevor!

I don’t know you, but I know your grandpa - Arn Baerg (just incase you don’t know your grandpas name, you know :P) ANYWAYS, I’m interning at Waterloo Mennonite Brethren in youth ministry stuff, and your grandpas was talking to Dan Parkinson (one of the youth directors) about you. I heard you’re going to EBC which is amazing. I have a ton of friends there, so if you have any questions or want to chat it up, I’m your man, well, girl, but that doesn’t quite fit the expression :)

    Keep smiling!
