My Camera has Died

Yup, that’s the truth.
The other day at DA, I pulled out my faithful camera ‘Larry’ (see the connection? Bob and Larry.), and turned it on, only to see a mess of black and white on the screen. Looking closer, I could see that there were evil cracks snaking across the LCD screen. My camera has no viewfinder, so this means I have no way of telling what exactly I’m taking a picture of…
I contacted a repair service, to find out how much it would cost to repair, and they quoted me 100 bucks! The camera cost $220 new for goodness sakes.
So, I have 2 options now. Either I ditch Larry and buy a new camera, or I order the part and try to fix it myself. I’m waiting to find out how much the new screen would cost now.

Anyways, the point of this is that you probably won’t be seeing too many new pictures over on My Photos.

In other news, though somewhat belated, I’d like to welcome Mr. Stephen Harper as our new Prime Minister. This could be an interesting time for Canadian politics.

I’m off now, bonne nuit!

Oh my goodness, that is seriously sad! I would be lost without Sonrisa…
Do you have a backup camera at least?!

    How sad! I’m sorry Trev… :(

Maybe we could start a fundraiser to buy you a new one. You know, virtual car washes and bake sales– stuff like that. I know how to make some excellent, byte-sized cookies. Get it? Byte. Lame, I know. :P

Okay, I’m going to leave now before I say any more stupid stuff.

    …but I am truly sorry.

  3. I say buy the part, if it’s cheap enough to be worth it — more fun ;P

    Thanks for your sympathy, guys!
Ariel, I can use my Dad’s camera, I suppose, and I may do just that. For now, I think I’ll scan and upload some of my older pictures…like waay back!
Maria, care to explain what exactly a virtual car wash is? ;)
Stephen, I called Olympus tonight, and was told that they do not cary any replacement parts for my camera… :?
So, looks like I’m back in the market for a digital camera. I’ll probably wait until I go back to Canada this summer.

$100 actually is not too bad for camera repair - but I’d probably just opt for a new one. . .and it IS pretty much impossible to get “spare” parts for them :S

Maybe $100 isn’t that bad, but for a cheap point-and-shoot camera it just doesn’t seem worth it.
