Heya peoples!
Here are a few pictures from like…a week ago.  For those of youwho don’t know, we’ve had major flooding in some areas of Dakar. Our family has fortunately been unnaffected, but several others have, including Sarah. So, she was staying with some of my parent’s friends, who came over fordinner one night.  She came along, and we now have Darren thepole-hugger, and Sarah, the pole-kisser

Then the cruel girls made Darren promise not to open his eyes, and this was the end result.

Such an obliging guy

And then, I drew pretty much the best drawing ever!

btw, if you haven’t seen Napolean Dynomite, don’t even try to understand that

Now, Saturday morning, my Dad and I went to help the Aisenbry’s, afamily in our mission who’s house was flooded.  They wanted to getall their stuff out before it rained again.
This was the first view of their house that we had…not a pretty sight.  Look at those garage doors!

That’s Uncle Lou, it’s his house.

Here’s my dad in his handy-dandy boots

This is what used to be their garden!

Their car was stuck there the whole time, and as you can see, the waterline there (4 feet ) is definately over the car!

The following are shots from inside their house, they had time to getthe most important things upstairs, but everything else was ruined.
Bathroom:

Dining Room:

Kitchen:

Unbelievable eh?  I’d heard all about it, but it was so much different to see it with my own eyes.

And on a lighter note, I found out what happens when you leave rice outfor 5 days in a very humid environment…it turns colourful!  Theyhad left it out for their dog, but it obviously wasn’t hungry. Want a bite?

So we loaded all their stuff on trucks, and that was that.

I was gone from 9 til 3 though, and was so tired afterwards…that was basically my day
Have a great Sunday, guys!

Ok, let me explain a few things.
I thought it was cool always having pics and everything, and you guys seemed to enjoy them… then this random guyhas the nerve to tell me that my posts are too long and nobody wouldread them!  So I take his advice (shows how smart I am )and stop posting pictures for a bit.  And I get complaints
So as you have decreed, on with the pictures!
First of all, I welcome you.
Hi!

Yup, this is going to be one of those posts where I show you what Ilooked like years and years ago!  These at least are far enoughback to be really funny though!
Here are the three of us kids a while back:

And this is Darren, showing one of our “hobbies” back then.

Don’t you just love Beanie Babies?

We took some loooong car trips back then too!

And once, we even got to visit…drumroll please…

The Adventures in Odyssey “Headquarters”!  For those of you wholove those tapes, and even listen to the credits, you may recognize thenames…Dave Arnold, and Jonathan Crowe, who we got to hobnobwith.  Nice knowing people in high places

Ah, don’t you just love riding mowers?

And then we went to France somewhere along there on my Timeline of Life.

You’d better recognize those!

And this was my 12th Birthday.

As you can tell, I had a buzz cut, grew my hair out, had a buzz cut, grew my hair out   We’ll see where it goes from here.

Hope you enjoyed the pics even if you didn’t read my oh-so-insightful comments!

Just got back from Youth Group, had a great time
We played some games, they were ok I guess, but not the funnest. One of them was called “I never”  so I did something totallyun-Trevish and walked up to the front, grabbed a mike and belted out averse of the Pirates who don’t do Anything!
“Well I’ve never kissed a chipmunk and I’m not too good at ping-pongand I’ve never painted daisies on a big red rubber ball.  And I’venever bathed in yoghurt and I don’t look good in leggings…. And I’venever been to Boston in the fall.”
It was so funny!

Talked to some people for quite a while, and Eric had a good talk aboutunity at DA.  Even though I don’t go there it was stillinteresting.  Hopefully I’ll be able to get involved this year andbecome more a part of the “DA Community”.

Hope you all are doing great!

Hey there Trevellers (pun intended) ,
Sorry I haven’t been posting as much, you’ll probably have to get usedto it as this looks like it’ll be a busy school year.  I startedon Monday, and things have been going well so far   My 2math courses and my Computer Science aren’t going to start for another2 weeks, so I’m working on Physics, Health, Worldviews andEnglish.  Health is actually pretty interesting, learning aboutheart rate and nutrition.  Aparantly, I have the heart rate of a”highly conditioned athlete” Must be all the sports and play andweights I lift

Tomorrow is the first Youth Group of the year!  I can’t wait, it’s going to beawesome!  Hopefully I’ll get to meet all the new people.

Today I had another tennis lesson, it went really rotten.  Wasn’thitting the ball anywhere near where it was supposed to go!

Well it’s off to bed for me now, goodnight!

Well….summer is almost over   Ithas been a good one though, thoroughly enjoyed it!  Sometimes feltlike I didn’t get much stuff done, but from talking to other people Ithink I did just fine .  I’vespent about 3 or more hours each day doing something “productive” suchas playing guitar, working on my robotics, that kind of thing. I’ve also spent a lot of time getting this desktop computer allspiffied up and ready for the next school year.  I think it’ll beMY computer this year… my preciousssss… You know, it needs a name, any suggestions?  Quote from Adventures in Odyssey:  “Eugene, you’re the only guy I know who can hug a computer and feel loved” Ibelieve it was Connie who said that   Eugene rocks.

Sorry, back to my computer.  I think I finally installed everylast thing I need!  Except for getting my sound cardworking.  I need to hear that catchy windows login ditty!  Sofar I have installed…
Mozilla Firefox
MSN Messenger 7.0
Olympus Master
Firstclass
Picasa
Hello!
Norton Antivirus
ZoneAlarm
Epson Smart Panel for Scanners
Stuffit Standard
OpenOffice.org
Faststone Photo Resizer
JRE 1.5

plus drivers for:
Monitor
Network Card
Printer
Scanner
Sound Card (still not working)

and I think that’s about it.  So that’s whats been taking up most of my time.
I’vealso scanned about 100 pictures from old photo albums, and organizedthem all with Picasa.   And, I found the awesomest backgroundfor  my comp, Sarah will love it!

Aren’t they just loverly?

The other day my sister locked my up in this incompromisable fortress:

Someone come and rescue me!
We went to DA on Thursday to see all the people who were back forschool!  Darren and I got to see everyone we wanted too, and meetall the new people we knew were coming aswell.  Twas quitefun!  We saw this cloud which seriously looked like Mrs. Piggy!

The other day Darren and I were at home for supper since my parents andRachel were at Magicland, so this is what we “cooked” up for ourselves.

What can I say, mayonaisse, mustard, butter, salsa, cheese, tomatoes, pickles, garlic, YUM!!

On Friday we went to the American Club for our tennis lesson, here’s me showing off my “awesome skills”

notice how the tongue sticking out really helps my balance.

And Darren:

And then, it started to rain.  The story of the past week. So, we swam in the rain, got soaked and I got to wear my shoes with NOsocks, go me!  I am too cool.

And here is me, soaking wet:

Then that evening I had been invited to a DA Senior Class activity, nice to be included  It was still kinda raining, so I hadtrouble getting a taxi, but I finally did get one, and on the way wehad a good conversation.  I asked him what the feathers in his carwere, I’d seen them in other taxi’s too, and he told me that they wereto “keep accidents away and to make the client happy and talk a lot”Then he said it was like the amulet a lot of Senegalese have on theirarms, and showed me his.  He noticed I didn’t have one, and askedmy why.  So I told him I was a Christian, and he assured me he wastoo, pointing at the cross hanging from his rearview mirror.  Iasked him a few more questions, told him that Jesus was my friend, andthen he stopped talking.  But I was so happy that I got over myfear and I talked to him about God!!  Yay!!

When I got to DA I saw the van of Seniors with the door literallysliding shut, so I ran across the sand yelling, screaming and waving myarms.  Must’ve have a sight to see  I got there only to find they already had 4 people to a row, and 5 inthe row behind the driver.  We squished up more, 6 in that row,and because of traffic, I was stuck there for an hour and 15minutes…ah, felt so good to get out.

We had ***n, got ice cream downtown and just wandered around, but we gotaccosted by several guys selling cologne and stuff!  I left earlyto take Purity, Janelle and Asiya home, Purity was feeling reaaaallyrotten.

So now, I try to make the most of tomorrow and wait expectantly for Monday…toodloo!
