Yesterday we finally got to make attaya! ![]()
![]()
You make it in three stages, known as rounds. So, first round isthe strongest and most bitter, 2nd is less strong, and 3rd is likesugar water
For first round we put in 20, yes 20 sugarcubes! Then another 15 for second, and 10 for third. Youkeep the same tea leaves for each round which is why it getsweaker. After all that caffiene and sugar Darren and I were justa tad bit hyper
But of course, that’s half the fun ofattaya. Here are some pictures:
This would be our teapot. We use very high-tech solutions whenmaking attaya, such as the piece of paper stuffed up it’s spout to keepit from boiling over ![]()

Lots of fanning was needed to heat that water. We spent half anhour getting the fourno ready and heating the first round of water, andadding tea, when I fanned a bit too energetically and knocked theteapot off, spilling all its contents! Oops.
Mmmm, you can see the tea leaves bubbling inside.
Now the fun part, the spilling *cough* I mean pouring ![]()

I have worked very hard to perfect my mad attaya-pouring skills.
At supper last night, I sneaked quite a bit of salt into Rachel’s glasswithout her seeing
Then Darren challenges her to adrinking race… she gulps it all, waits a sec and spews it right backinto the glass! Then I leave, and she puts salt in myglass. I come back, and she gives it away by saying “Hey Trevor, don’t drink your water because I want to race you.” I ended upgiving her a surprise by drinking the whole glass and keeping it down!
Darren and I were up till midnight, probably because of thecaffiene/sugar high we were still running on. This morning we hada huge rainstorm, and I read in bed for quite a while
Thesummer seems to be dissapearing, it’s not too long until everyone getsback and school starts again!
