I’m very sorry this has taken so long, I had trouble staying focussed today. I really enjoyed a week away without the many distractions found here, so that I could do what I really wanted to, read, spend time with my family, and play guitar. It seems that here in Dakar there are never enough hours in the day, but that I get very little done.
Our time in Saly was awesome, everyone enjoyed it very much. Some of the highlights were the air-conditioning

and the pool

The main activity which we did was called Accrobaobab, which was like rock-climbing in huge Senegalese trees called baobabs.

You go from station to station way up in the trees, sometimes 50 feet! In between there are zip lines, swinging ropes, suspended tunnels and swinging logs.

We also went down to the beach a few times, built a sand castly, squooshed our toes in the sand

We also spent quite a bit of time in the villa, reading, playing games and goofing around

Rachel was walking past a hair-braiding shop in the commercial area of Saly when this lady walks up to her and starts braiding her hair, sorta an advertisement I guess. So she walked off with a free braid:

She also caught a snail one evening and christened it “Chi”. You can’t even see it here, but this was Chi’s cage.

Now, on to more recent things. Last night was the first big rain of the rainy season. It started around 2 am and woke all of us up. My sis and I wanted to go dance in the rain, but our parents wouldn’t let us
Would’ve been fun I think. I went to the orthodontist this afternoon, and when we were standing by the road after having left, the Senegalese president’s procession of moterbikes, SUV’s and his limo passed us coming from the Presidential palace. That’s all for today!
Peace out!
