Today is/was Wednesday, library day!  Seeing as my family is running the library over the summer, that made for a busy afternoon.  Especially when we get some like-minded homeschooling families checking out 25 books per kid!   I’m sure I’ve never done that!  We were supposed to close at 4:30 and we finally left around 5:20.  Got a bunch of Far Side cartoon books out, and I’ve already read all of them, as of 11:04!  That guy has a way too overactive imagination, but his cartoons are awesome.  At the library, my little sister had a birthday party for her favourite stuffed dog…she had guests and everything, I thought it was pretty funny.  Tomorrow night is a progressive dinner Darren and I are doing, where we go to different houses for each course, and (hopefully) end up eating a lot of good food

At our youth group retreat a month ago, the speaker told a funny story about a progressive dinner.  He met this girl that he was interested in, and at the first house, he started nonchalantly edging his way towards her, and finally he introduced himself and they had just started talking when “Ok people, time to move on to the next house!” This happened at each stop, so he didn’t end up getting to talk to her much.  Then they spent like one weekend together, he proposed, and they got married!   Kinda pushing things a bit fast in my opinion.  But it makes for a funny story!

On Saturday we leave for a week’s holiday at a beach resort   I’ll probably get my infamous world-renowned tan, or maybe I’ll settle for a dragon-shaped one   Anyways, I’d better be going off to bed, I’m tired….

Ok, well it seems a lot of people would like the red leaf instead of green in my new logo, so I’m going to take a vote.

Good morning everyone

Wow, can’t believe I haven’t posted in 3 days!  *slaps self*

Ok, so on Friday there was a pool party for all of the people left here this summer.  It was  a steaming hot day, so the water was very welcome!  I didn’t do my sunscreen very thoroughly and I’m still feeling it today.  According to some people, I got a burn on my back that looked like a dragon!  Maybe it’ll tan that way, except I never tan, so I guess it won’t.

That evening we went to my little sister Rachel’s ballet performance at the biggest theatre in Senegal!  She just started dancing this year, and she loves it!

That’s her in the middle, at the front of the line.

She danced great!

Saturday afternoon, we got an acoustic piano!  Doesn’t affect me too much seeing as I don’t play, but it looks nice, and my siblings are very happy.  If you want the full detailed report check out Darren’s Xanga.  I spent quite a while working on my “project”.  The way our running water works in Dakar is basically lots of water at night, and no water during the day.  So we have a reservoir on our roof which fills up and lets us use it when we are awake, or semi-awake at least Sometimes there is little water during the night though, and then we end up running out.  So I’m hooking up a little sensor that will let us know if the reservoir is full or not.  Yesterday that meant soldering 12 pieces of wire together to reach down from our roof.  Today I’ll probably climb up there (that’s really why I’m doing this, because I like climbing on the roof ) and finish it up.

Also, check out the new, totally awesome logo up in the top-right-hand corner of the page.  Pretty sweet eh?

Well my exam went really well yesterday, I wrote an hour’s worth of it in the morning, and then another two hours in the afternoon.  Assuming I didn’t do dismally worse than I felt I did, then I shall be pleased   Actually, don’t tell anyone, but I kind of enjoyed writing it!   That was my last course of the year, so now I’m officially in Grade 12! A scary thought that I’ll be graduating next year… and leaving home for a year… I’m going to miss my family and everybody at DA

Last night to celebrate the much-anticipated end of school, our family went out for ice-cream sundaes! I know Josh doesn’t like the food pics, but too bad for him

Yummy
Ok, so the next part of the show is the part of the show where you watch gleefully at the frightening yet more than slightly amusing images of me destroying my Chemistry Textbook which I am now done with until University, and is happily on it’s way being shipped to Canada where there will be the entire Atlantic Ocean and most of Canada between it and me, ok?  Or I guess it could be all of Asia and the Pacific Ocean, but we’ll ignore that possibility.

That said and done, Chemistry was actually a pretty fun course. But I’m still glad that I’m done   Today I played guitar for a while, playing along to some Stand Firm songs.  Awesome band, they’re from our home church in Ottawa, and they play for free, give away their CD’s and they have great music!

Short entry:  really it will be!  I have my big final exam tomorrow morning, so I’d really appreciate some prayer for that.  It’s 3 hours long, and I have 1 hour of work, a 3 hour break and then another 2 hours of work, which is really weird, but I guess I have to do what they tell me to

News of today…we went to the pool, played Marco Polo, and my little sister read almost the entire periodic table!

Toodles!
